Perspective on Goal Setting
Hi everyone. Joeaux and I were walking this morning, and I heard her making a recording, a weekly message about goal setting. I have another perspective about goal setting and some ideas I wanted to share. I don’t set very many goals, for the same reason other people don’t set goals, as sometimes they don’t seem to work.
What Needs to be Done
What I do is just do it. I want to walk every day of this year, and I am doing it. I set a timer, and I walk out a certain amount of time, and I walk back a certain amount of time. I don’t set a goal saying, ” I’m gonna walk every day this year.” I’m just doing it. So I guess that can be a way of setting goals. I see what needs to be done and do it.
Now, according to Joeaux, I think much more linearly than she does, which is true. She is a big picture, connecting in with that 30,000-foot level, and I’m right here. Okay, what do I need to do next? What do I need to do after that? What do I need to do after that?
Make a List
So if goal setting doesn’t necessarily work for you, think of it as just making a list of things that you’d like to do, and not think of it as a goal, and then start doing it. Take action. See how that works for you. And if you have another perspective on goal setting and what works for you, be sure to leave us a comment below.
